Tampa Bay Krewe Rugby Football Club has been announced as the Official Rugby Community Partner for the upcoming TROPICAL 7s tournament next month (3rd/4th April 2026 at the Tampa Sportsplex, Florida), strengthening the connection between one of Florida’s most established rugby clubs and one of the world’s premier international rugby sevens festivals.
The partnership will see the Tampa Krewe play an important role in supporting community engagement, volunteer coordination, and helping deliver a welcoming environment for the thousands of athletes, coaches, and spectators expected to attend the tournament.

Founded in 1991 with the aim of growing rugby across the Tampa Bay area, Tampa Bay Krewe has developed into one of the region’s leading rugby organisations. What began with just 17 players has grown into a thriving club that fields multiple teams across both the 15-a-side and sevens formats, including Men’s Division 2 and Division 4 squads, Under-19 teams, and youth rugby programs. The club is also closely connected with the Tampa Bay Krewe Women’s Rugby Football Club, reflecting its commitment to providing opportunities for players across the community.

Billy Neilson, Vice President of Tampa Bay Krewe RFC, welcomed the partnership and the opportunity to support the tournament.
“Partnering with TROPICAL 7s is a tremendous opportunity for Tampa Krewe Rugby. It allows us to showcase the strength of our local rugby community and inspire the next generation of players. We’re thrilled to play a role in making this event a success.”
The Tampa Krewe is built on a strong set of community values, placing people first and championing the core principles of rugby: competition, camaraderie, respect, and inclusion. The club prides itself on being an open and welcoming environment for players of all backgrounds and experience levels who wish to get involved in the game.

For the organisers of TROPICAL 7s, the partnership represents an important step in strengthening the event’s ties with the local rugby community. John Siner, Executive Director of TROPICAL 7s, highlighted the shared vision between the tournament and the club:
“This partnership is built around shared values of community engagement, volunteerism, and the continued growth of rugby in the Tampa Bay area. Tampa Krewe’s involvement will play a key role in helping to deliver a high-quality tournament experience for athletes, teams, and spectators.”
The 2026 TROPICAL 7s tournament will bring together teams from across the United States and around the world for a celebration of rugby sevens, community spirit, and international competition in Tampa Bay. With the support of Tampa Bay Krewe and the wider local rugby community, organisers are preparing to deliver the largest and most vibrant edition of TROPICAL 7s to date.
