TROPICAL 7s will once again play a role in USA Rugby’s national Talent Identification pathway in 2026, as the governing body launches an expanded system of Talent ID Days, Regional Development Days, and scouting tournaments designed to identify future USA Eagles.
Under the updated pathway, USA Rugby staff will continue to evaluate athletes in live competition environments, with TROPICAL 7s confirmed as a key Talent ID tournament on the 2026 calendar. The event provides athletes with direct exposure to national team scouts while competing against elite domestic and international opposition.

Expanded Opportunities for Aspiring Eagles
USA Rugby’s 2026 Talent ID model introduces clearer entry points for athletes, including open Talent ID Days and invite-only Regional Development Days. These initiatives aim to broaden the player pool and strengthen the high-performance pipeline ahead of upcoming international cycles. TROPICAL 7s’ continued inclusion reflects its growing reputation as a high-performance platform where emerging talent can be seen, tested, and connected to national team opportunities.
“Being officially aligned with USA Rugby’s Talent ID strategy reflects our ongoing commitment to player development and exposure,” said John Siner, Executive Director of Tropical Rugby. “TROPICAL 7s is proud to provide a high-performance environment that connects athletes to elite opportunities and supports their journey to the international stage.”
