The countdown to the 2026 Tropical 7s, which takes place at the Tampa Spotsplex, Florida over 3rd/4th April, is well and truly now on. Team registration has now officially closed although many individual divisions have been on waitlist for weeks if not months.
With 230 teams registered, this year’s event will once again transform Tampa into one of the largest gatherings of sevens rugby talent anywhere in the world. Spanning 17 competitive divisions, the tournament brings together players from U12 all the way through Senior Elite.
The entry list includes 102 girls’/women’s teams, a record number for the event, reflecting the tournament’s reputation as leading rugby showcase for the girl’s /women’s game and the tournament’s commitment to providing meaningful competition opportunities across the entire women’s rugby pathway with equal boys and girls divisions at every age group.
For 2026, the tournament extends its depth again with the addition of a new U12 Girls division, further strengthening the foundation of the girls’ game and ensuring young female athletes have more opportunities than ever to experience the rugby competition.
Across the tournament, teams will compete in 17 different divisions, including:
• U12 - Coed and Girls (new for 2026)
• U14 - Boys and Girls
• U16 - Elite and Open Boys and Girls
• U18 - Elite and Open Boys and Girls
• U23 - Men’s Open & Women’s Open & Elite
• Senior Mens & Womens Elite
TROPICAL 7s has always been about more than just domestic competition — and the 2026 field further reflects how global this event has become. This year’s entries include 60 international teams representing 7 countries outside the United States, including:
• Canada 🇨🇦
• Australia 🇦🇺
• United Kingdom 🇬🇧
• Bermuda 🇧🇲
• British Virgin Islands 🇻🇬
• Cayman Islands 🇰🇾
• Mexico 🇲🇽
Canadian programs once again feature prominently throughout the age grades, representing a wide cross-section of the Canadian rugby landscape, including club programs, development academies, touring select sides and university teams. Australia is represented by Renegades 32 and Shockwave Rugby Academy while Caribbean representation includes teams from the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, and from Bermuda. The Senior Women’s Elite division sees the addition of two notable international programs for the first time: LIT 7s from the United Kingdom and the Mexico Women’s national rugby 7s team.
