John Siner (USA) - Executive Director

John runs the USA office based in Orlando, Florida. He has over 20 years of experience working in the sports industry both in the USA and internationally, including 7 years with the International Olympic Committee.  John has also previously held roles with Major League Soccer, Adidas, CBS Sports, as well as collaborative projects with FIFA. John holds a Masters degree in International Sport Management, and a published thesis on the subject of “Sport and Tourism”.


Alex Proctor-Pearson (GBR) - International Director

Alex heads up our overseas office in the UK and is the main point of contact with our international teams. With over 15 years of experience in the international sport sector, Alex also holds a business undergraduate degree from Edinburgh University and a post-graduate degree in International Sports Management.  Alex has held previous roles with the International Olympic Committee, the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games, and was International Relations Adviser to UK Sport, the UK government's agency responsible for elite sport and major events. Alex will not be attending the 2021 Tropical 7s due to COVID-related travel restrictions.


Veronika Muehlhofer (AUT) - Competition Director

Originally from Austria but now based in Switzerland, Veronika has 17 years of experience in International Sports & Event Management including 4 Olympic Games and countless tournaments and world championships in many different sports. She is currently CEO of the Swiss national rugby union and sits on World Rugby's Council. She also has 5+ years’ experience as an entrepreneur, and a lifetime's passion for sports.  Veronika is a World Rugby Level 3 certified coach and works as a tournament director for 7s and 15s rugby championships for Rugby Europe and European Club Rugby. She has worked, lived, or studied in the US, Europe, Russia, Asia, and South America, and has learned at least some of the local languages.  Veronika will not be attending the 2021 Tropical 7s due to COVID-related travel restrictions.


Roy Monk (GBR) - Referee Manager

Roy has been involved with rugby for over 45 years as a player, coach, administrator, referee, referee coach, and most recently as a World Rugby certified educator. Roy resides in sunny Florida and is currently the President of the Florida Rugby Referees Association (FRRA). Although he still enjoys picking up the whistle occasionally, most of his rugby time is devoted to coaching and training referees of all levels. Roy joined the Tropical 7s team as Referee Manager in 2018 and oversees the tournament's International Referee Programme to ensure the highest quality refereeing in order to meet the needs of this growing tournament.

TROPICAL 7s is partnered with the Devos Sport Business Management Program at the University of Central Florida (UCF) - a challenging degree program designed to develop future innovative leaders in the sports business and entertainment management industry. A team of students form a core part of the TROPICAL 7s planning & delivery team and support across a wide range of event areas including strategy, digital & social marketing, and operations.
